ABOUT MAMA SAM

Born in Wisconsin and raised on stages, Mama Sam is a heart-scrubber, a soul-shaker, and a guitar-wielding storm. Her voice—raw, gravelly, and magnetic—cuts straight to the bone. In Chicago’s 2000s underground scene, she tore it up with bands like Calibrated Crematorium, Willy Dynomite, Cartolinas, and The Flower Beds.

Portland became her next cosmic waypoint. In 2014 she touched down; by 2018 she was leading a psychedelic folk-pop force of nature known as Mama Sam & The Jam. Her songs blend heartbreak, cosmic wonder, and the kind of emotional electricity that leaves a room breathless.

Mama Sam sings and has arranged back up vocals with many projects out of Portland like New Constellations, Ashleigh Flynn and the Riveters, ZWONGR, Mitch and the Melody Makers and more!

Mama Sam and the Jam sounds like Mazzy Star on mushrooms jamming with Fleetwood Mac, wrapped in harmonies that lift your entire frequency. It’s vibey, goosebumpy, groovy magic.

ABOUT THE JAM

The Jam features Carmen Paradise, Nick Foltz, Justine Renee, Rachael Curtin and Mike Wiser.

The band released their first E.P., “Hearing is Hard” at the end of 2019 with producer Sean Flora. During Covid, Mama Sam recorded and released an E.P. with Ryan Oxford called “Home” in 2021.
